All the other content creators might act like Ricky’s new sponsor was a surprise, but if you’ve been following This Week in Disc Golf, you already knew. Ricky Wysocki has officially signed with Discraft! Along with this announcement, there’s a new president for the DGPT, major PDGA updates, and plenty more. Buckle up, Disgenerates, because we’ve got a lot to cover.
Welcome Back, It’s Swiss Cheese
For those who don’t know me yet, I’m Swiss Cheese—the guy with all the holes in his game and one half of The Disc Golf World, the fastest disc golf news source on YouTube. Whether you’re a Patreon supporter, a subscriber, or someone who just stumbled upon this, thank you! Your support got us overseas to Finland for the upcoming World Championship.
Now, before I get emotional, let’s dive into the big news: Ricky Wysocki’s new 3-year deal with Discraft.
Discraft’s Historic Offseason Dominance
Discraft is having the greatest offseason in disc golf history. Let’s just say it out loud—no one else even comes close. They locked down the top free agent Anthony Barela, brought in the number two player in the world rankings (Ricky Wysocki), and re-signed big names like Ezra Aderhold, Adam Hammes, and Austin Turner. They even added legends like Ken Climo with his adjacent brand. Oh, and let’s not forget Paige Schuh and Hannah Wynn on the FPO side.
Honestly, at this point, why even entertain the idea of a Manufacturer’s Cup? Discraft’s lineup is already crowned.
Ricky’s Signing: The Details
Ricky’s announcement came with all the bells and whistles: a new Raptor release, slow-motion clips, an un-ironed shirt, and a shiny new logo. But beyond the marketing, this deal ends months of messy negotiations, pay cut offers, and one of the most highly anticipated contracts in disc golf history.
Oh, and Ricky’s caddy and tour manager Vern? He’s out. Seems like Ricky goes through managers as quickly as manufacturers.
The Truth About Ricky’s Signing
Let’s address the elephant in the room: This was not a surprise. Despite the fake shock from other content creators, everyone knew this was coming. Drew Gibson’s cryptic tweet? Terry Miller admitting he knew but wouldn’t report? It was all out there. Yet, somehow, everyone pretended to be caught off guard. Performance art at its finest.
We pride ourselves on honest reporting. Unlike others, we’re not afraid to tell you what’s happening when we get confirmation. Sure, it might ruffle feathers, but we’re not here to play games or mislead our audience.
PDGA Announces Future World Championship Locations
Moving on, the PDGA awarded the 2026 World Championships to Milford, Michigan, at the world-famous Toboggan course. The TD will be none other than PDGA president Nate Heinold. While Heinold’s expertise is undeniable, his business ties to Ledgestone Insurance and the PDGA make this selection feel… complicated.
In 2027, Worlds heads back to Oregon, marking a return to the Pacific Northwest for the first time since 2014. Milo McIver and Glendoveer are incredible courses, and we’re expecting a stellar event. However, the bidding process for Worlds continues to feel orchestrated, leaving little room for international or lesser-known locations to shine.
DGPT’s New Leadership
The DGPT also made waves this week, announcing Dominic DiFibio as its new president. With 18 years of financial experience, Dominic enters at a pivotal time, as the DGPT expands into Europe and looks to attract new investors. Alongside him, Brian Cole was promoted to VP of Tour Operations, and Christine Jennings now serves as Director of Administration and Tour Operations.
It’s a big shake-up, and hopefully, this new leadership can help the DGPT continue its upward trajectory.
